 Teal kept sniffing around the lab for a while as the orderly put better restraints on Aaron, eventually occupying himself with watching a couple armadillo lizards doing some sort of dominance fight. I wasn't really paying a whole lot of attention, I was just waiting for Aaron to wake back up.

 My waiting came to an end as he groaned a little, stirring. I smelled beef and turned around to see a soldier wheeling in a cart with several freshly cooked and several raw steaks. "This the lab that needed the beef?"

 "Yeah" I answered, "And not a moment too soon"

 "Whatever, Xenomorph."

this does look like an effective design and it raises a question what would be it's purpose on the battlefield air superiority, ground support or even as a multirole platform?

It's an air superiority fighter/bomber. In the context of the story it came from it was developed in secret by the Whitewolven empire using technology they stole from the Atlantians.

essentially. remember, this is an alien world, they haven't made as many advances in rocket tech as we have, most of thier propulsion devices are crystal driven, and crystals are very expensive, too expensive to be used as munitions.
